P1 or P2?

P1 is the rating given to a respirator that meets Australian Standard

AS/NZS1716 for filtering mechanically generated particles e.g. particles

formed by crushing, grinding, drilling, sanding, cutting etc.

P2 is the rating given to a respirator that meets Australian Standard

AS/NZS1716 for filtering mechanically and thermally generated

particles e.g. those generated from welding fume. These are also

the recommended type for use against biological particles.

When to replace your filters?

Replace your filters regularly!

If you can detect by smell or taste the chemical coming through the filters on your respirator then

it is time to change the filters. Both filters must be changed together.

Once it becomes difficult to breathe comfortably then it’s time to replace both filters.
